Instagram is saturated with stunning images of beautiful custom kitchens. Thousands upon thousands of likes a day are on the same color and style of kitchen. In fact, most of the trending kitchens are the same style from day to day.

Houzz recently did a study, the 2019 U.S. Houzz Kitchen Trends Study, where more than 1,300 Houzz users who had completed a kitchen remodel in the past 12 months were interviewed. The results of that study were very similar to the previous year. And, from what we see with the Knoxville market, we can agree that white kitchens still lead for the most desired kitchen cabinet color- but what about the style of kitchen that is projected to dominate in both new and remodeled homes?

Most people who want to remodel or design their dream kitchen this year will more than likely opt for one of the top three styles. So what is that style and what should you consider before planning your kitchen remodel?

transitional white kitchen

Transitional

Transitional kitchens blend old with new, and include both traditional and contemporary elements. A farmhouse sink with shaker cabinets and modern brass pulls fit this design trend. This style utilizes the kitchen as the hub of the home and a true gathering space. Most Transitional kitchens have a large island and open floor plan.

Contemporary

Sleek and minimalist. This design features things such as flat panel cabinets and hidden appliances. Typically these kitchens utilize dark woods or black cabinetry and bright glossy countertops.

Modern Farmhouse

A mix of transitional and farmhouse this style features the use of clean lines, white cabinetry and rustic wood as well as open shelving. Although this style came in 3rd style overall, it has continued to be the top requested style for remodeled kitchens and is very popular with bathroom remodels as well.
